The department’s strategic objectives will only be achieved
if the Val d’Oise has the right infrastructure. It is
important to foster transport facilities for both commuters (RER,
motorways, airports, TGV high speed train, etc.) and information.
As a result, the Val d’Oise now has one of the best high
speed data infrastructures of any department in France.
- ADSL (which provides high speed transportation of text, sound and
image) is already available throughout the east of the department
as well as in the labour pools in Argenteuil and
Cergy-Pontoise.
- The Local Radio Loop (Hertzian) is currently under installation
and the Val d’Oise features two regional and two national
carriers.
- Five optical fibre carriers, France Telecom, Louis Dreyfus
Communication, Level 3, Global Crossing and Viatel have deployed
their systems in the Val d’Oise. Competition of this kind has
provided the Val d’Oise with a high specification
communications system making it a top site for relocation!
Particularly so since the Val d’Oise is located to the
north-west of Paris on a Pan-European route between two capitals:
Paris and London.
Val d’Oise’s leading edge infrastructure makes the
department an ideal location for the implantation of new economy
companies requiring data exchange. The department is already home
to a series of key Internet Data Centers, now set to be followed by
other companies in the Telecommunications sector.
