With 200.000 inhabitants and 4.000 businesses spread over 12 neighbohood communities, Cergy-Pontoise currently creates no fewer than 2.000 new jobs each year. The total for the last 20 years comes to a hefty 80.000, two new RER stations are to open soon bringing the total to six, while projects for the new Liesse neighborhood will add officespace to the existing 700.000 sq. m. and the Cergy-Neuville technology park is set for further expansion. Six business parks cover a total nearly1.700 acres, soon to be increased some 2.200 ares. Finally, Cergy-Pontoise is home to a full-fledged university, as well as a number of other institutes of higher education.
